What we do
At SOCAR Trading, we serve as the bridge that brings energy to people—driving connections, building strong partnerships, and delivering reliable supply across global markets. Guided by excellence, innovation, and sustainability, we power today’s needs while shaping a brighter future for all.
Our Activities

SOCAR Trading is able to better manage the sale of Azeri crude through increased pricing flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing global needs, in addition to enhanced market knowledge stemming from its large network of partners and counter-parties. As of now, Azeri crude is delivered through mainly two pipelines: the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) in Georgia and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC) in Turkey. Additionally, our team moves volumes of crude through our supply chain to major international companies, refineries ensuring customers have enough products for their day to day needs.

Refined Products: Our trading teams handle light ends and petrochemicals, including LPG, naphtha, gasoline, ethylene and propylene. With global coverage across Europe, Americas and Asia, we operate in physical and financial markets, offering hedging solutions to distributors and end-users.
Biofuels & Fertilizers: The Biofuel and Fertilizer Des develops trading activities in low-carbon fuels and fertilizer products, integrating biofuels into the portfolio in line with market and regulatory requirements.

The team focuses on physical and financial LNG and natural gas trading out of the London, Geneva and Singapore offices. While managing the company’s floating LNG regasification terminal in Malta, majority of the desk’s activities are focused on proprietary derivative and physical trading with a truly global market coverage.

The European natural gas trading desk has developed its outreach across Europe and is active across key hubs including PSV, TTF, ZTP and Eastern European markets, including Bulgaria and Greece. The desk plays a pivotal role within SOCAR, providing integrated services ranging from optimisation to hedging and portfolio strategy.

The Carbon Desk has been established to understand and manage business risks related to environmental regulations and policies. Operational set up has been completed for compliance and voluntary carbon markets including trading and project development. This enables us to offer customers environmental product solutions. Our first carbon compensated crude cargo was delivered to CPC Corporation in June 2022.

The Paper Trading Desk offers comprehensive hedging services both for SOCAR Group’s operations and for external clients. Additionally, we actively engage in proprietary trading within the derivative market. Our team boasts a wealth of knowledge and proficiency in hedging strategies across various domains and regions, including Brent Dated market, Products market, Options and Structured trading.
